A Corrective Action Plan (CAP) is a formalized process designed to fix an identified problem or non-conformance. The CAP typically includes four steps: identification and confirmation of the problem or non-conformance; development and implementation of corrective actions to address the problem or non-conformance; verification that the corrective actions are effective; and documentation of the entire process. The CAP is an important mechanism in any quality management system (QMS) as it can improve customer satisfaction and build confidence in a company’s products or services. It can be initiated by anyone in the organization, but it is typically assigned to a specific individual or team to manage.
