It\u2019s great for simple designs like basic charts or text-heavy visuals that don&#8217;t require many visual elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus, if you\u2019re already using Word for reports or presentations, it\u2019s easy to keep everything in one place. However, if you\u2019re looking for more polished, professional designs, there are better tools out there \u2014 we\u2019ll get to that later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"word-infographic\"><strong>How to create an infographic in Word<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For demonstration, I\u2019ll create an MS Word document in the latest version of MS Office 365 suite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re using a different version of Word, some steps may differ slightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Create a new document&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to\u00a0<strong>Layout > Orientation<\/strong>\u00a0and choose\u00a0<strong>Portrait<\/strong>\u00a0for a vertical infographic or\u00a0<strong>Landscape<\/strong>\u00a0for a wider layout. Then go to\u00a0<strong>Layout > Margins<\/strong>\u00a0and select\u00a0<strong>Narrow<\/strong>\u00a0to give yourself more room to work with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add a clear title at the top of the page before you start building the design. Here, you should see the <strong>SmartArt<\/strong> option. Word has several chart options such as <a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/blog\/pie-chart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pie charts<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/blog\/bar-chart\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bar graphs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some other customization options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Add text styles<\/strong>: Change text to different fonts, sizes and colors to highlight key points.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Insert a standalone image<\/strong>: Add visuals to Word infographics to make them engaging. But you&#8217;ll have to source it yourself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Align and group objects:<\/strong> Alignment and grouping play a big part in how professional your infographic looks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5: Save and export&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your infographic is ready, Word allows you to share it in many ways.&nbsp;You can download your file as an Adobe PDF file, JPEG or HTML.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that&#8217;s it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it feels like there\u2019s <em>a lot <\/em>to do in each step, you&#8217;re not alone. Word is primarily a text-processing application. This means it offers limited options to edit layouts and it&#8217;s a headache to figure it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luckily, there are better ways to create beautiful infographics. Later, I\u2019ll show you just the right tool that offers easy drag-and-drop editing and customizable templates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"5-types\">What are the 5 types of infographics you can create in Word?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Word, you have two choices to create an infographic design. You can either create them from scratch using shapes. Or, you can select an existing <a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/templates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infographic template<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose a template to create an infographic an MS Word document, you&#8217;ll have a <a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/blog\/9-types-of-infographic-template\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">variety of infographic templates<\/a> to choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are some infographic templates in Word and examples of ones that are more effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Process infographics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/blog\/process-infographic-examples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Process infographics<\/a> show you the steps of a procedure or workflow.
