By answering these questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Who is your audience?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How will this infographic benefit them \u2014 or, why would they need the infographic? What kind of problems will the infographic help them solve?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How will they view the infographic? Is your audience primarily on their desktop, tablet or mobile phone?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is the infographic a stand-alone visual or does it accompany a blog post?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How exactly will they use the infographic?\n<ul>\n<li>Will they save it to their computer and refer to it at a later time?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will they print it out as a handout? Will they need space on the infographic to take notes?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will they repost the infographic on their social media or blogging platform?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Always think of your audience&nbsp;<strong>before, during and even after creating your infographic<\/strong>. This includes asking for feedback after you\u2019ve published your infographic so you can do a better job in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This particular element affects the other infographic elements as well&#8230; I\u2019ll explain what I mean in the next few sections!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"#toc\">Return to Table of Contents<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"data\"><strong>The information and data<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every infographic sets out to tell a story using the information and data it presents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For your infographic to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/blog\/data-storytelling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tell an effective, compelling story<\/a>, you need to make sure the information and data you use is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Credible \u2014 you should use data from credible sources only, like high-authority news sites and research publications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accurate \u2014 fact check your data to make sure it\u2019s accurate. That means, double checking all your numbers, especially if you&#8217;re doing your own calculations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meaningful \u2014 your data should be up to date and relevant to your audience. Make sure you&#8217;re using the latest studies and research available. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visualized \u2014 where appropriate, visualize your data using charts, graphs, diagrams or other&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/15KSsCju1ZsRO3wIRFyaG-V0YDe5_r2KJSP45DisHyzw\/edit#heading=h.x3ul46y7wvrs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">visual aids<\/a>&nbsp;like icons, illustrations and images.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The type of data you&#8217;re trying to convey will determine which&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/blog\/how-to-choose-the-best-charts-for-your-infographic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chart type is best<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, to decide which type of chart would best convey your data, you first have to determine what kind of data you want to present. A single important number? A comparison between data points? A trend over time? An outlier?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The types of charts most commonly used in infographics are pie chart, bar graphs, column graphs and line charts. You want to hook your readers&nbsp;<em>and<\/em>&nbsp;let them know what they\u2019re looking at right away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your title doesn\u2019t have to be long. It gives you one more chance to convince the readers to stay and read the infographic, and you don\u2019t need to use too many words either. This includes how you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Organize the order of different information on the infographic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And lay out the infographic as a whole<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First, think of the most effective way to present the information in your infographic<\/strong>. This relies a lot on how your audience reads.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Western cultures, people tend to read from&nbsp;<em>top to bottom<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>left to right<\/em>. So if you\u2019re creating a&nbsp;<em>horizontal<\/em>&nbsp;timeline infographic, for example, a rule of thumb is to present the information chronologically in that order:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a
