Movie posters are powerful tools that shouldn\u2019t be overlooked if you\u2019re promoting your own short film or small theater production.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s assume you\u2019re not Marvel, and you don\u2019t have a team of CG artists, A-list actors, and portrait photographers at your beck and call. <\/span><\/p>\n

This doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s impossible to create an eye-catching movie poster design. It just means you have to think a little differently about what it takes to make a great poster. <\/span><\/p>\n

Use icons to represent major themes or to tell a story<\/b><\/h2>\n

Icons<\/span><\/a> are simple vector graphics designed to represent more complex real-world objects or concepts. They\u2019re an essential visual communication tool used in infographics to reinforce concepts seen in the text.<\/span><\/p>\n

What makes icons so useful?<\/span><\/p>\n

There are a few possible approaches to designing movie posters with icons:<\/p>\n

Use icons literally, to depict important objects or moments in the movie<\/b><\/h3>\n

This could be as simple as pulling out an object that plays a significant role in the plot, choosing an image to represent a character, or spelling out the title of the movie with icons:<\/p>\n

Sometimes it\u2019s even possible to recreate an iconic scene, like we\u2019ve done for <\/span>Titanic<\/span><\/i>:<\/span><\/p>\n
